Corsair New Padlock 2 USB drive now coming with password protection for safety

Share

USB drives are easy to lose, and if you’re carrying a lot of sensitive information on them, consider getting something with a little more protection. And the new Corsair Padlock 2 can certainly provide some extra safe-keeping.

Compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux systems, the Padlock 2 comes with a few different methods of protection, including password protection (a 4-10 digit pin number) that users can enter on the keys pictured above. Should someone forget the pin code, the user can restore the drive to factory settings, wiping the drive clear and allowing a new password to be entered.

On the inside, the USB key has 256-bit encryption on stored data. Otherwise, it’s a pretty straightforward USB drive - just plug and play.

Prices start at £46 ($70) in the UK, but they’re a bit cheaper stateside, starting at $59 for 8 GB.
